{Stephanie & Thomas } Winter engagement session

{Stephanie & Thomas } Winter engagement session

Wedding seasons is upon us, and to start things off, we photographed the stunning Stephanie & Thomas here in Almonte for their engagement photos. At the end of March we were expecting there to be much less snow, however mother nature had other plans! Stephanie & Thomas are just full of energy and love for each other, and they were great sports during their winter engagement session. We are looking forward to their wedding this summer! {Victoria & Tyler} A gorgeous waterfront wedding in Kingston, Ontario

{Victoria & Tyler} A gorgeous waterfront wedding in Kingston, Ontario

As photographers, we love having different opportunities and challenges. Victoria & Tyler were married in the gorgeous Portsmouth Olympic Harbour, overlooking Kingston's waterfront. Historically we've had great opportunities capturing weddings and engagement sessions in Downtown Kingston, the Olympic Harbour is east of Kingston, past Queens University. Ivy and I took the opportunity to scout locations, and just a short 5 minute drive from the harbour, we found a great abandoned building to serve as the backdrop for their wedding portraits, along with the waterfront trail nearby! Victoria & Tyler are also very adventurous, and were up for creating these images that we absolutely love! Continue Reading..
{Melanie & Adam} A daring wedding in Smiths Falls

{Melanie & Adam} A daring wedding in Smiths Falls

Ivanette and I have been looking forward to Melanie & Adam’s wedding for quite some time now! We love weddings, and really love it when couples are creative, and completely up for something different. Growing up Adam raced motorcross bikes, and in the back of his parent’s property, they set up a dirt track. One thing led to another, and the idea formed that it would be an awesome image if Adam jumped overtop of Melanie on their wedding day. A couple weeks before their wedding we went and did some planning to make sure it would work. The day finally came, and all went well. Adam even launched himself over the whole wedding party! {Kacey & Jordan} An engagement on Parliament Hill Ottawa

It was a bit of a blast from the past when Kacey’s mother Susan e-mailed us to say there was another wedding in the family! Back in 2008 we photographed her sister’s wedding, and we thrilled to hear Kacey’s news, and that we had the opportunity to capture her wedding! Their family was absolutely amazing, and we’re honoured to be part of their lives! Continue Reading..

{Kamin & Jon} A mix of wedding traditions at Stanley’s Maple Lane Farm

Ivanette and I had the opportunity to meet with Kamin & Jon when they made a trip to Ottawa to plan their wedding, we loved how relaxed they were, and were excited when they asked us to be their wedding photographers! Kamin & Jon, along with their families did an absolutely amazing job of combining both of their cultures and traditions into one great day! Continue Reading..

{Roberta & Jeff} A sunny May wedding at Orchardview

What can I say, Roberta & Jeff are one of the most relaxed couples we've ever met! Their day flowed smoothly, and there wasn't even a hint of stress for either of them! Perhaps that's because Elise of Toast Special Events was handling everything for them! Their ceremony was perfect, and we had a great time wandering the grounds of Orchardview for some amazing portraits, some of which may include horses! Enjoy the preview! Continue Reading..

{Melanie & Adam} An engagement session where everything started!

We first had the chance to meet with Melanie & Adam at the studio in January, and are very excited to photograph their wedding! Look out for dirt bikes! While getting to know them, we learnt that they first met when Melanie worked delivering parts to local garages, and met this young, friendly mechanic named Adam. Eventually she started working at the garage, and well, the rest is history! What a more fitting place for their engagement session than the family garage where they met! Continue Reading..
{Melissa & Garth} An “end of the world” wedding at Montebello!

{Melissa & Garth} An “end of the world” wedding at Montebello!

As I'm sure you all know, Dec 21st 2012 was supposed to be the end of the world as some people interpreted the Mayan Calendar. Well, it was quite a fitting day to celebrate Melissa & Garth's love for each other. Twenty three years ago, the two were high school sweethearts, so on the end of the world, or as it was more commonly referred to at their wedding, the beginning of a new age, Melissa & Garth were married in a wonderful ceremony at Chateau Montebello. Melissa filled the wedding full of unique touches, such as a circular aisle, so that they could walk past each and every guest, the custom hand made glass ornaments that formed a centrepiece, and then became favours for the guests. There was no seating plan, because as Melissa and Garth stated, "We are all family, so there's no seating plan". Guests were able to sit where they wished, mingle with who they wanted, and meet new friends at their leisure. The atmosphere was relaxed, well, until the dancing started! Continue Reading..

{Josée & David } A winter wedding at Cumberland Heritage Museum

A few weeks back on a snowy November day, I had the pleasure of photographing Josée and David's gorgeous and intimate wedding at the Cumberland Heritage Museum. This was the first time I had the opportunity to meet them, as we had taken care of the details by phone and e-mail leading up to their special day. They are wonderful, caring, and just so relaxed! Their personalities showed in the details of their day, they had a grand total of 11 guests, and were very relaxed about their whole day! Enjoy the preview! Continue Reading..

{Heather & Marc} Museum of Nature, Ottawa

What a wedding! I've known Heather since high school, and have always kept in touch. When I got the note on Facebook that Marc had proposed and that Heather was asking us if we'd be their photographers, we were very excited! Heather planned an amazing, elegant, and sophisticated wedding at the Museum of Nature in Ottawa. Heather and Marc wanted their friends and family to enjoy the experience first hand, not from behind their camera. Their unplugged wedding was full of emotion, and personal touches. Ivanette and I had great opportunities to capture all of it. Marc's sister sang an amazing rendition of Ave Maria that captivated all of the guests! Continue Reading..

Ivanette and I have known Christine & Evan for a few years now through family, and were thrilled to have the opportunity to photograph their wedding! It threatened to rain on their wedding day, but luckily the clouds cleared during their ceremony and we were able to make some gorgeous images outside! Continue Reading..
{Rachel & Chris} A rainy day wedding

{Rachel & Chris} A rainy day wedding

Some of our past clients might recognize Rachel, as she was my assistant last year while Ivanette was home with baby Tavis! Shortly after she started working with us, Chris proposed, so it was an honour when she asked us to photograph her wedding. The week leading up to the wedding, Rachel had her eye on the forecast, and I was hoping it would change. Well, the forecast did change, only the accumulation kept getting higher and higher. Well, it was a torrential downpour for most of the day! We completed their first look inside one of the barns at Stonefields, Ivanette was drenched from head to toe getting the barn set up and ready for the first look, and I can't thank her enough for all she did! Rachel made the last minute decision to have her wedding outside in the drizzle, and with the help of Allan the ceremony was picture perfect! I also wanted to thank Steve and Stephanie of Stonefields who stepped in and made Rachel & Chris' wedding amazing after their original venue double booked their date. Continue Reading..
{Pamela & Sherman} A family wedding

{Pamela & Sherman} A family wedding

Ivanette met Pamela and Sherman at the Ottawa wedding show this January. As luck would have it, as they were passing by, an image from Stephanie & Frederic's wedding we photographed last fall popped onto the screen. Turns out they were also planning their wedding at the NDHQ WO’S & Sgts’ Mess Hall here in Ottawa. It's an absolutely gorgeous hall, and the food is to die for! After chatting with with Ivanette, and going through some of our work, they decided that having a professional photographer might be something they wanted after all. We met with them a few weeks later, and have been looking forward to their wedding! They are full of emotion and are absolutely hilarious! As favours, Pamela & Sherman personally handed out support our troops pins to each guest. Their focus was on family, so we set up a photobooth and Ivanette took gorgeous portraits of all their guests while I was outside capturing their formal photos. It was a great day! Continue Reading..

{Chantal & Simon} A firefighter’s wedding at Lago Bar Grill View

I've known Simon for a while, we were in the same class at Algonquin college for fire fighting, and have kept in touch ever since. Simon has been a volunteer in Dunrobin (Ottawa) for a couple years longer than I've been on with Mississippi Mills. When Simon sent me a note to say he was engaged, and wanted Ivanette and I to photograph their wedding, it was an honour, and privilege. Chantal is one patient woman, and I learnt that after the first time we got together to chat about their wedding, and conversation strayed into chatting about the two departments. I photographed their engagement session at the Dunrobin Hall to include the trucks. Well, turns out Ottawa Fire had a call right beside Lago while we were doing their portraits, so with the Captain's permission, we took a couple photos while they dealt with a minor call. Simon and I had already planned out having him wear one of his department shirts under his tux. It was a great wedding, and an even better party! Continue Reading..

{Tavis’ 1st Birthday} A Cookie Monster Birthday Party

Wow, a year sure goes by quickly! A year ago I was photographing back to back weddings, our busiest season, when Mr. Tavis decided he would enter this world. The year has gone by so quickly! Watching him progress from fitting in my forearm to the walking, smiling, laughing little boy he is today. He's my little work buddy, and keeps the day interesting! We were glad to have all the great family and friends join us to celebrate his first birthday! After a hard day's work, seeing Ivanette's face light up as he toddles over to the door squeeling and smiling because mommy's home is the best part of the day! Also, a big thanks to my brother Mark for picking up the camera for part of the day! Continue Reading..
