{Rachel & Eric} Engagement session at Ottawa’s Arboretum

Ivanette had the pleasure of meeting with Rachel when she started her new job last fall. It was a few months later when Rachel and Eric came in to discuss their wedding plans that I got to meet both of them. Rachel and Eric's relationship first started when they would meet each other for lunch under a large willow tree at their University. The Arboretum with it's large willows seemed like the perfect fit for their engagement photos. You can't help but have a good time with these two! We just love it when people are so madly in love! We are looking forward to covering their small, intimate wedding later this year. Read more

{Jennifer & Jason} A unique wedding

Ivanette and I had met Jason a few years back at a local meetup, organized through the photo sharing website flickr. Jason, and his then girlfriend Jen were just super cool people and we passed war stories and tips back and forth over a few beers. They both had great ideas and really like to relax! When I heard through twitter that Jason had popped the question to Jennifer, I was anxious to find out who they would choose as their wedding photographer. Jason being a semi-pro photographer, and having photographed weddings himself, I knew he would be picky! Well, luckily one day last year, I received an e-mail from Jason asking if I still had June 25th open. Read more

{Janis & John} A gorgeous Strathmere Garden Wedding

Janis & John had a gorgeous day for their wedding last Saturday at Strathmere. The sun even came out for brief moments! The weather was great, with lots of great family and friends in attendance. Janis and John did a great job of putting together their elegant and personalized wedding. Of course, everything went as smooth as possible, thanks to Erika, one of Strathmere's coordinators. {Fanny & Steve} Remic Rapids Engagement

Fanny and Steve were absolutely amazing to work with this past Sunday! We met downtown to photograph their engagement session by the water. With the threat of rain and thunder storms, we moved quickly, which was made easy by Fanny & Steve's passion and energy for each other! Ivanette and I can't wait for their wedding! Read more

{Phill & Tracy} A wintery country engagement

Ivanette and I have known Phill almost since the time we moved to Almonte 4 years ago. Phil is the give you his shirt off his back kind of guy who is always around when you need a hand. We were happy for him when we heard about Tracy, and even happier when he called Ivanette one evening asking for a little advice on when the best time to propose would be! We had the opportunity to take their engagement photos at Tracy's family farm, as it combines her love of the family land, and Phill's love of 4 wheelers and tractors. We were lucky enough to schedule their session the morning after last week's snow storm, giving Phil and Tracy a bit of powder to play around in with the 4 wheeler. Read more

{Katrina & Chris} A winter wedding at Stanley’s Maple Lane Farm

Katrina & Chris have been planning their gorgeous outdoor winter wedding for quite some time now, and for one of the few times, I booked them without even meeting them. They have been living in Alberta and have had to do all of the planning from there. A big thanks to Heather for recommending us to Katrina after we photographed her wedding this past July. Another rarity was that Ivanette, my wife was unable to attend their weekday wedding to assist me. Thanks to Liz Bradley for being my second photographer /and assistant. Read more

{Christine & Benton} A winter engagement near Barry’s Bay

We first met Christine at Arnprior's first wedding show a few months ago. We immediately seemed to get along very well and after the 3 of us chatted for over half an hour, she went home to discuss things with Benton. A few days later we received a very nice e-mail requesting to meet up. Christine and Benton made the drive to Almonte from Barry's Bay a few days later and we set a date to capture their engagement photos. We had a great time despite the foot of snow that was on the ground at the park near Combermere (just outside of Barry's Bay). As we were wrapping up the session, Benton mentioned that as a child, he had helped his grandfather build a monument a few kilometers away to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the 1944 Warsaw uprising in Poland. It is designed to commemorate a church that was destroyed during the Nazi invasion. We thought it would be a fitting tribute to their culture, family, and heritage, and the perfect way to end their engagement session. Read more

{Sara & Marc} Vintage Christmas Wedding

This post is a testament to the fact that social media works...really, really works. Earlier this year, I befriended Sara on Twitter; I had been following a conversation regarding her upcoming vintage styled wedding, and I suggested that she have a look at one my favorite sites, Ruffled Blog. We hit it off, and eventually we got together to talk about their wedding photography. Brian and I were thrilled! Sara has a cool retro vibe going on, and regularly blogs about her ventures into vintage fashion--she's cute, bubbly, and charismatic. Marc, at first, seemed to be the total opposite. He seemed quiet, but gave us a pleasant surprise when he very eloquently told us about many of the details of their day...he was undoubtedly head over heels in love with Sara and an absolute equal in the planning process. They told us of their dream winter wedding, designed around Christmas, which is a very special time for Sara, just as it was for her beloved mother. Read more
