{Melissa & Garth} An “end of the world” wedding at Montebello!

As I'm sure you all know, Dec 21st 2012 was supposed to be the end of the world as some people interpreted the Mayan Calendar. Well, it was quite a fitting day to celebrate Melissa & Garth's love for each other. Twenty three years ago, the two were high school sweethearts, so on the end of the world, or as it was more commonly referred to at their wedding, the beginning of a new age, Melissa & Garth were married in a wonderful ceremony at Chateau Montebello. Melissa filled the wedding full of unique touches, such as a circular aisle, so that they could walk past each and every guest, the custom hand made glass ornaments that formed a centrepiece, and then became favours for the guests. There was no seating plan, because as Melissa and Garth stated, "We are all family, so there's no seating plan". Guests were able to sit where they wished, mingle with who they wanted, and meet new friends at their leisure. The atmosphere was relaxed, well, until the dancing started! Read more

{Josée & David } A winter wedding at Cumberland Heritage Museum

A few weeks back on a snowy November day, I had the pleasure of photographing Josée and David's gorgeous and intimate wedding at the Cumberland Heritage Museum. This was the first time I had the opportunity to meet them, as we had taken care of the details by phone and e-mail leading up to their special day. They are wonderful, caring, and just so relaxed! Their personalities showed in the details of their day, they had a grand total of 11 guests, and were very relaxed about their whole day! Enjoy the preview! Read more

{Christine & Evan} A wedding by the water in Carleton Place

Ivanette and I have known Christine & Evan for a few years now through family, and were thrilled to have the opportunity to photograph their wedding! With a big thanks to Sara at Prior Engagements for making the Canoe Club look the best it's ever looked! It threatened to rain on their wedding day, but luckily the clouds cleared during their ceremony and we were able to make some gorgeous images outside! Read more

{Pamela & Sherman} A family wedding

Ivanette met Pamela and Sherman at the Ottawa wedding show this January. As luck would have it, as they were passing by, an image from Stephanie & Frederic's wedding we photographed last fall popped onto the screen. Turns out they were also planning their wedding at the NDHQ WO’S & Sgts’ Mess Hall here in Ottawa. It's an absolutely gorgeous hall, and the food is to die for! After chatting with with Ivanette, and going through some of our work, they decided that having a professional photographer might be something they wanted after all. We met with them a few weeks later, and have been looking forward to their wedding! They are full of emotion and are absolutely hilarious! As favours, Pamela & Sherman personally handed out support our troops pins to each guest. Their focus was on family, so we set up a photobooth and Ivanette took gorgeous portraits of all their guests while I was outside capturing their formal photos. It was a great day! Read more

{Chantal & Simon} A firefighter’s wedding at Lago Bar Grill View

I've known Simon for a while, we were in the same class at Algonquin college for fire fighting, and have kept in touch ever since. Simon has been a volunteer in Dunrobin (Ottawa) for a couple years longer than I've been on with Mississippi Mills. When Simon sent me a note to say he was engaged, and wanted Ivanette and I to photograph their wedding, it was an honour, and privilege. Chantal is one patient woman, and I learnt that after the first time we got together to chat about their wedding, and conversation strayed into chatting about the two departments. I photographed their engagement session at the Dunrobin Hall to include the trucks. Well, turns out Ottawa Fire had a call right beside Lago while we were doing their portraits, so with the Captain's permission, we took a couple photos while they dealt with a minor call. Simon and I had already planned out having him wear one of his department shirts under his tux. It was a great wedding, and an even better party! Read more

{Shannon & Bob} A country wedding at Kemptville College

{Chelsea & Scott} A Celtic wedding at Tudor Hall

I first met Chelsea and her amazing family at her brother's wedding back in the fall of 2009. Ivy didn't have the chance to join me as she was in Vancouver preparing to work at the Olympics the following year. I can tell you however that she was jealous of not being able to photograph all of the amazing details! When Chelsea messaged me on facebook to let us know that Scott had proposed, and she wanted us to photograph their wedding, we were both excited! Turns out Scott's family is just as nice and caring! From the details that Chelsea chose, the Champagne Highland Dancers acting as ushers, and then having three performances during the reception, and the absolute abundance of emotion throughout the day. The most memorable moment to me was Chelsea's reaction as Scott stepped out to reveal he was wearing a kilt. Chelsea's Scottish roots are important to herself and her family. Scott's effort into bringing in a kilt bearing her family's Tartan was a sign of just how much he loves Chelsea! Read more

{Stephanie & Jason} A destination wedding in Ottawa!

Last weekend it was a pleasure to photograph Stephanie & Jason's wedding. When most of us hear destination wedding, we think of the sunny south. Stephanie & Jason actually live in Barbados, and since her parents and family members live in Ottawa, they decided to hold their wedding here! After a very long distance phone call, I got to know the couple, and immediately knew their wedding was going to be one of the most relaxed weddings I've ever photographed, which made the 5am wake up call for their 9 am ceremony completely worth while! Enjoy the photos! Read more
